* About *
Hi, I'm Ashanti, and I am a veteran writer and creative marketing strategist. My work as an activist and influencer focuses on the intersection of communication, technology, Black culture, and the workplace. In October 2020, I wrote an article for the Sunday edition of The New York Times about Black LinkedIn that galvanized a movement to transform the workplace experience for Black and other marginalized communities. I am an outspoken advocate for Black land and wealth reparations; I have been featured in Forbes, NPR, Reuters, and USA Today.
I am also a trusted communications consultant. I've supported and advised senior leadership at major higher ed institutions and created strategies to engage VIP and high-net-worth constituents. With more than 20 years of experience spanning journalism, public relations, philanthropy, and alumni engagement, I am able to help clients with their most pressing communications challenges.
My services include strategic communications consulting, executive and board communications, internal communications, copywriting of all types, content strategy, email newsletters, and strategic writing for fundraising and philanthropy.

* What Folks Say *
"Ashanti's superpower is her authenticity. Because she shows up as a real person -- with power, strength, humor, and humility -- she is able to speak about complex and sometimes loaded topics in a way that makes them approachable. In doing so, she invites more people into the conversation and the conversation becomes better as a result."
Michele Bousquet, chief people officer, Strava
"I would have listened to Ms. Martin all day. There wasn't anything that could have made this event better for me. I appreciate Ms. Martin and Pearson for having this event."
Tracey McCrea, Senior Project Manager at Pearson
"You have already done so much to advance conversations about equity, and break down the artificial walls between those conversations and 'business conversations.'"
Phil Mole, environmental and sustainability content manager
"Ashanti is an A-list writer, thought leader, and influencer. She has been a clear voice of reason during our toughest times."
Evan Birkhead, strategic marketing and communications executive
"You never cease to inspire me with your relentless candor and evocative voice."
Lola Bakare, owner and principal marketing success consultant of be/co
"I know genius when I see it. The genius is in her humanity. She is humble enough to connect with someone who unknowingly disrespects her experience by denying it. It's so hard to give grace like that in the first place. Ashanti shows how we can still love and respect one another...even if we disagree."
Kay Win, Owner of Best Version Resume Boutique
"I don't know if I've ever clicked 'follow' so fast in my life."
Leyna McKinney, HR Director at Mobius Executive Leadership
"Ashanti has always made it safe to ask and clarify."
Stacey Gonzales, Director of Educational Partnerships at Insight Education Group
